This bilingual component of our project is important throughout our methodology. Our interviewees spoke to us in spanish, so we translated into English, then translated the created narrative back in spanish.
Having shared identities with out interviewees only made this project more collaborative and meaningful. The entire purpose of a community research fellowship is to create and execute a project in direct collaboration with the community, community center, and people at hand. WE were looking to tell the stories of immigrants who are a part of Chicago's community. We as fellows, believe that these stories provide valuable life insights, and deserve to be shared with the community in Chicago with your consent.
